snack time
In other news, toasted French bread topped with strawberry jam and Havarti is really good.

I used to have such a thing for Havarti and jam! I can't remember what I was eating it on, though...

I'd never tried it before - I just looked down at the bread and cheese and for some reason thought, "this needs jam." :)

It's even better if you grill it. Grilled cheese and jam sandwiches are the best of all foodstuffs.

Ooh, I've never tried that, but it sounds awesome!

Also, your (perfect) icon is making me hungry. :)

It is pure goodness. Also now I want grilled cheese and jam, but I don't have any bread.

(also, the icon was inspired by a really obnoxious person who said that the Shakespeare histories fandom has the collective IQ of a cheese sandwich, largely because we are all under fifty and are not on board with the True and Pure Love of Henry V and Montjoy the French Herald. Or something.)

Oh god, that person is really the gift that keeps on giving. :( Ah well, you are clearly in the right and are surely much more fun!

I've been keeping bread in my freezer, because otherwise I find myself wanting toast in the middle of the night but having forgotten to buy bread, even if I managed to make it to the grocery store that week, which isn't always the case. Not that this helps you now, but maybe for the future?

Can you suggest flavor combinations? I can't quite wrap my head around strawberry jam and cheddar, for example, but maybe apricot and a mild cheese?
the cold geniusangevin2 on June 19th, 2012 05:11 am (UTC)
I tend to use milder cheeses, like havarti and provolone and sometimes brick, with tarter jams like raspberry and pomegranate (really hard to find, but awesome) and strawberry.

Sounds good! Definitely going on my summer "to try" list... I can certainly come up with raspberry jam, at least.
