things, none related
- I don't really understand these AT&T commercials that suggest that having really fast internet on your phone will turn you into an obnoxious, selfish jerk. (Seriously, they're all disdainful and "...that was so twenty-seven seconds ago," and I'm thinking, "oh, shut up, you internet-speed hipsters.")

- The thing I never seem to expect about Doctor Who (even though I know it to be true) is how it can be going along in such a silly way, and then break my heart in the next breath. Which is by way of saying that I just watched the prequel for the Christmas special.

*obligatory squeaky noises and "I love Eleven to bits!" here*

(one of the things I do really love about this show, though, is how generically random it is. One week it's historical adventure, another week it's creepy sci-fi psychological character study, and another week it's a buddy comedy.)

- In other news, I am wearing a skirt, and I really like the pattern (black and brown houndstooth on a white background), and also I am wearing it with an orange sweater, which is fairly unlike me but I like it, but the material is sort of unexpectedly stretchy, which means that I have to keep tugging it down all the time or else risk being very mini-skirted. bah.

Doctor Who has always been like that, even the Classic show. It's why I love it. Oh-- and did you see this: http://www.thedailyshow.com/full-episodes/wed-december-7-2011-ralph-fiennes

Oh, definitely--I didn't mean to imply that this was a New Who thing (although I have seen lots more New Who than Classic).

And I did see that! I enjoyed how bemused Ralph Fiennes seemed to be by Jon Stewart's being impressed that he was good at Shakespeare--because for him it's something you just become good at by practicing, really.
