Okay, so here's a thing that just gets to me: Eleven being surprised by his own emotions. He does this in "The Doctor's Wife" for a second, when he says he genuinely doesn't know what to do--and for a moment, he's properly, little-boy scared, before the cheeky glee and the self-chastisement. But here, when he says he's angry, and that that's new...obviously we've seen him angry before, but not like that, and there's a moment where Matt Smith looks like that feeling really could run away with him, because he doesn't know what to do with it. Eep. But it's a thing I love about Eleven more generally, even when he's not telling us that something is new: I love him because he feels everything so deeply, because so many of his emotions come across as if he's feeling them for the first time.

blah blah why do you make me love you so much Eleven blah.

Re: my reaction right now
A+ comment!

It's funny: I've been having a hard time writing about this season, because most of the episodes ("The Doctor's Wife" excepted) feel so much less standalone than in S5. So all of my posts are like, "here's this random thing I loved!"

It amuses me that Rory is still trying to get people to agree to that "Williams" thing, and everyone else is like, "...please. It's Pond." Also, Rory crying = too adorable for words.

I do find that the River thing has thrown me for a loop, though. I can't imagine what that means for the Ponds' future: how do they go back home to Leadworth and then raise a daughter who grows up to be River Song? SO CONFUSED.

I adored how calm River was when her -erm-- good friend Amy pointed a gun at her. How long before Season Six -- All summer?!!!

I think they come back in September, yes.

I keep finding people who don't see the depth of emotion Eleven plays every week and it ASTOUNDS ME. It's all right there! One of my friends even said that she didn't see the oldness, the alienness, and I wanted to ask if we even watched the same show, since I think those are two of the strongest parts of Matt Smith's performance. I know that everyone is entitled to see what they see, but some people are WRONG. ;)

I know what you mean! Every week Matt Smith does something lovely and unexpected, and it seems so clear to me, but I know that many people don't see it. (I had a conversation once with a friend who basically said "he's just a guy, reacting to things," and I was thisclose to reeling off a high-pitched, overly intense list of moments he needed to go back and watch again.)

Oh well, I will continue to do gleeful jazz hands and flaily arms over my dear Eleven.
