nope, not even.
So I was gonna try to watch the second ep of that NBC time travel show Timeless (and Paterson Joseph is in it), but in like minute two, the lead character is like, "we accidentally changed something in the past so that now my mom isn't sick anymore and my sister never existed," and the woman who is clearly some sort of higher-up in a time-travel organization goes, "We have your dossier and there's no mention of a sister." !!! Because you changed the bloody timeline, that's your literal JOB, how are you this dumb. I just can't with this.

(Also, why do American shows have such a hard time with not making things set in the past look so cheap and cheesy? Is it because they have to stretch the budget out over more episodes?)

Plus Hayley Atwell is on ABC, on an albeit bland procedural show (Conviction, about investigating criminal convictions), but still, Hayley Atwell.

I gave Timeless a glance tonight, but it didn't draw me in. Not many shows do, these days.

I watched it, as one watches the cliched slow-motion train wreck. Our heroine nearly saves Abe Lincoln, our villain manages to kill him anyway. The best lines were exchanged by the two male time-travellers about their (really cheesy) uniforms "We got them from a Civil War re-enactment club" "Oh, that's why they smell of sweat and loneliness." And to the scriptwriters' credit, they had a real soldier recognize their inaccuracy.

Meanwhile, our heroine is being laced into her dress over nothing at all. And she is able to run out and buy a more evening-style dress that fits her perfectly, as though somewhere in this timeline, ready-to-wear had been invented before 1865.

Oh dear. I'm sure the idea was that you need Big Historical Events to get the audience to care, but there are just so many ways to stumble right into a mass of cliches that way.

I would also give a show a lot of leeway just for remembering the little details - like chemises, I suppose.

Yeah. I keep looking for a good show to delve into, but so far, no luck.

I've watched Designated Survivor a couple of times. It's not bad. I don't think of it as appointment television, but I'll turn it on if I'm home.

Honestly, I think it would stress me out too much! I like the idea of seeing the Presidency from the perspective of someone who suddenly came to the office unexpectedly, but the whole terrorist attack angle is something I just don't want to watch on television.
