a totally random Doctor Who question
What's the deal with Amy's clothes this season? Is it just me, or is she basically wearing the same two outfits with plaid shirts in all the episodes so far, just with an occasional different sweater or pair of tights?

In related news, Neil Gaiman is a brilliant human and I love him.

I don't recall Martha changing a lot either. Gone are the Days of Romana the fashion plate.

Martha had a reason for not changing, though: for the first few episodes she was wearing the same outfit because it was all she had. After "Lazarus" she wears different outfits for different episodes/adventures. Amy wore different outfits all the time last season, so why is she wearing the same clothes now? It's peculiar.

There's a full wardrobe on the TARDIS, and the Doctor is/was usually very generous about allowing guest to change. Offered it to Rose, Donna brought her own things, and offered it to Amy who was in her night clothes. And Amy and Rory like to dress up-- for each other, so maybe the dress up is more a intimate thing?

But I read something about them wanting to get away from Amy the mini-skirts.

But she's still wearing miniskirts! It just seems to be the same one.

Re: Calling it now
Although more seriously I have no idea. Last year Amy favored solid colors, though, and lots of red and blue. Even her poncho was gray while her boys' ponchos were plaid. Now she and Rory are both wearing plaid, because... plaid is how the Ponds roll? Because plaid's coolness is indeterminate, just like Amy's pregnancy? OBVIOUSLY THAT IS THE ANSWER.

Re: Calling it now
You joke, but I am not convinced that Amy's new love of plaid is not actually something that might be an issue in the finale! Maybe there's something wrong with her memory, and she just keeps substituting the same outfits when she tries to remember. Or maybe it's a sign that everything is happening over the same handful of days.

Or maybe the wardrobe budget is much smaller this year. :)

Watsonian crack!idea: They haven't gone home and they can't find the TARDIS wardrobe (she's hidden it!), so they (Amy and Rory) are just switching out the same outfits again and again, like when you lose your luggage on a trip?

Doylist crack!idea: Costume budget has been slashed? Or the new wardrobe person is OBSESSED WITH PLAID!11!!!eleventy!!

Hmmm...yeah, I got nothing.

Hee, I like that first idea! Maybe they have to wash their clothes out in the kitchen sink, too.

All the plaid amuses me. I mean, I know that this cast is basically Team Hipster, but this is ridiculous.
