I feel like there's a joke here, or a comment on costume drama, but I can't find it.
It continues to weird me out that in the latest adaptation of Emma (airing tomorrow on PBS--check your local listings, as they say), there are two actors who have played Edmund Bertram.

For some reason this is even weirder than the "aaah what Elizabeth Bennet/Mr. Knightley" thing my brain kept doing when the film of Possession came out. (This didn't actually happen while I was watching the film, thank goodness. I can only hope I'm as lucky tomorrow.)

I agree, that's really bizarre.

the "aaah what Elizabeth Bennet/Mr. Knightley" thing my brain kept doing when the film of Possession came out.

I found that weird, but not as weird as the "aaah what Elizabeth Bennet & Mr. Collins" thing my brain kept doing when I saw Pirates of the Caribbean 3.

Hee! It probably helped that my brain just doesn't register P&P3 as Pride and Prejudice; I remember thinking that it was odd that they were both in both movies--the same way it was odd that Johnny Depp and Jack Davenport were both in The Libertine--but I didn't have the same sort of visceral reaction...even though it's actually a much weirder pairing, since those two actually exist in the same novel!
